2013 Sundance Film Festival Announces Jury Awards in Short Filmmaking

Park City, UT— Sundance Institute this evening announced the jury prizes and honorable mentions in short filmmaking at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. The awards were presented at a ceremony in Park City, Utah.
This year’s Short Film program is comprised of 65 short films selected from a record 8,102 submissions.

In fact, one of this year’s great breakout performances comes courtesy of a TV and stage veteran, a 43-year-old actress whose work in the likes of Deadwood and Sons of Anarchy won her admirers but few high profile roles to date.

Sundance Google+ Hangout: Direct-to-Fan Church

Today’s Google+ Hangout featured Topspin Media Senior Vice President of Marketing Bob Moczydlowsky, filmmaker and founder of The Webby Awards Tiffany Shlain, and Sundance’s Chris Horton and Joseph Beyer. It was educational and entertaining discussion on the evolution and explosion of Direct-to-Fan Distribution (D2F). The D2F model allows artists to create interest in their work directly with fans, develop relationships with their fans, and sell directly to them through various platforms.

Sundance Google+ Hangout: New Frontier of Storytelling – Transmedia Disruptors

Sundance hosted its first Google+ Hangout that was broadcasted live earlier today featuring four of the New Frontier artists. It was the first hangout in a series of eight Google+ Hangouts happening live at 2 pm throughout the festival.

The hangout guests today were Jigar Mehta, Yung Jake, Gregory Bayne, and Brigitte Dale.

Sundance Institute Artist Services Program Expands Self-Distribution Opportunities

Artist Services Announces Collaboration with REELHOUSE, VHX, VIMEO and TUGG, Offering Filmmakers Additional Platforms and Tools
Los Angeles, CA — Keri Putnam, Executive Director of Sundance Institute, today announced that the Institute’s Artist Services program – which provides Institute artists with exclusive opportunities for creative self-distribution, marketing and financing solutions for their work – has expanded to include selected films supported by one foundation and five nonprofit organizations. Additionally, these organizations will join with Sundance Institute in continuing to shape the program and the services it offers.
The Bertha Foundation, BRITDOC, Cinereach, Film Independent, the Independent Filmmaker Project and the San Francisco Film Society will each select films that they have supported to receive access to best-in-class digital distribution arrangements that have been negotiated by Sundance Institute Artist Services.
