Sundance Institute Artist Services Program Expands Self-Distribution Opportunities
Artist Services Announces Collaboration with REELHOUSE, VHX, VIMEO and TUGG, Offering Filmmakers Additional Platforms and Tools
Los Angeles, CA — Keri Putnam, Executive Director of Sundance Institute, today announced that the Institute’s Artist Services program – which provides Institute artists with exclusive opportunities for creative self-distribution, marketing and financing solutions for their work – has expanded to include selected films supported by one foundation and five nonprofit organizations. Additionally, these organizations will join with Sundance Institute in continuing to shape the program and the services it offers.
The Bertha Foundation, BRITDOC, Cinereach, Film Independent, the Independent Filmmaker Project and the San Francisco Film Society will each select films that they have supported to receive access to best-in-class digital distribution arrangements that have been negotiated by Sundance Institute Artist Services.

Digital Debut for 13 Independent Films via Sundance Institute’s Artist Services
LOS ANGELES — Sundance Institute today announced that 13 independent films are now available through a variety of platforms to rent, download or stream via the Institute’s Artist Services program. Titles include 2012 Sundance Film Festival films Detropia, I Am Not a Hipster, The Atomic States of America, and We’re Not Broke. Sundance Institute is thrilled to congratulate 13 Sundance-supported films and alumni on their Oscar nominations this morning. Leading the way with four nominations is Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts of the Southern Wild, which participated in the 2011 Sundance Institute Screenwriters and Directors Labs and took home the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize.

Native Artists’ Growth in 2012 Yields Representation at the 2013 Festival
The world of Native American and Indigenous cinema saw exceptional growth in 2012. Along with the rise of producers and women filmmakers, there has been an emergence of mainstream filmmaking by Native filmmakers. Through artist support and public programs, the Sundance Institute’s Native American and Indigenous Program facilitated the discovery, support, and word-of-mouth marketing around these artists and their films seen this year.

Sundance Institute Announces National Screenings for 2013 Sundance Film Festival New Frontier Proje
Park City, UT — Sundance Institute today announced that Coral: Rekindling Venus, a full-dome film and augmented reality presentation featured in the 2013 edition of New Frontier at the Sundance Film Festival, will screen at 14 full-dome planetariums throughout the United States during the Festival, January 17-27. Created and directed by Australian media artist Lynette Wallworth, Coral: Rekindling Venus is an immersive film experience that takes viewers underwater through the mysterious realm of fluorescent coral reefs in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.
In addition to multiple daily screenings in a specially designed dome at the New Frontier exhibition in Park City, Utah, the 45-minute film will also screen January 19th, 22nd and 26th at Salt Lake City’s Clark Planetarium.

Sundance Institute Announces 12 Projects Selected for the Feature Film Program 2013 January Screenw
Los Angeles, CA — Sundance Institute has selected 12 projects for its 2013 January Screenwriters Lab, an immersive, five-day (January 11-16) writers’ workshop at the Sundance Resort in Utah. Participating independent screenwriters – drawn from around the world, including the United States, Iran, Europe, Mexico, and Somalia – will have the opportunity to work intensely on their feature film scripts with the support of established writers. The 2013 Lab is dedicated to the memory of Frank Pierson (1925-2012), a founding creative advisor of the Feature Film Program whose body of work and generosity as a mentor served as an inspiration to countless writers.

Short Film Competition To Return For Sundance London 2013
The O2, London, 13 December 2012 — Sundance London will once again host a Short Film Competition for the second film and music festival, 25-28 April at The O2.
