Each year, our Meet the Artist series on YouTube gives Sundance Film Festival audiences a rare peek into the minds of the directors behind the projects premiering and screening. In these short videos, filmmakers share the stories, motivations, and creative sparks that brought their work to life, offering an intimate perspective of their vision.
We love celebrating the artists whose Sundance Film Festival projects went on to take home awards at the Fest and gain attention from wider audiences. As our excitement builds for the reveal of the 2026 Fest lineup, we’re taking a trip down memory lane and looking at some of the Meet the Artist videos of storytellers who won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic award and the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic award at the Festival.
From personal reflections to unexpected moments of inspiration, these clips featuring Ryan Coogler, Damien Chazelle, Astrid Rondero, Fernanda Valadez, and more highlight the artistry and dedication that helped these filmmakers craft the work that captivated audiences and jury members.
