The vibe inside the big white tent of the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards was that of a warm family reunion. With so many  projects supported by Sundance Institute through our artist programs, labs, and Festival being acknowledged, big smiles and group hugs were a common sight between the tables.

Celine Song walked away with two statues — Best Feature and Best Director — for 2023 Sundance Film Festival’s Past Lives, while A.V. Rockwell picked up the Best First Feature honor for A Thousand and One (2023’s U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize winner). Within his speech while accepting the John Cassavetes Award, Unseen’s writer-director Babak Jalali gave a shout out to the Sundance programming team to a warm round of applause.
