What to Watch in April: ‘H.’ Exploits Our Subconscious Fears

“H.” premiered in the NEXT section at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

Nate von Zumwalt

Rania Attieh and Daniel Garcia’s H. marks one of the most enigmatic Sundance selections in recent years and is set to make its theatrical release in April. Detailing a series of inexplicable events following a meteor strike in upstate New York, H. exists in a murky realm of surrealism and disquietude where fear arrives with subtlety. Sitting at the opposite end of the genre spectrum is director John Carney’s Sing Street, which like his previous hits Once and Begin Again expertly plays with the use of original music and taps into the power of song as a sanctuary for his young lead character.

Check out all of the Sundance-supported films coming to theaters and digital platforms this month.
