Chris Horton, Associate Director, #ArtistServices

Beginning Wednesday, December 4, we’ll be unveiling the program for the 2014 Sundance Film Festival right here on sundance.org. Films will be announced in four stages, leading off with the U.S. and World Competition films and culminating with the Short Films announcement. Here are the dates and times for each of the program category announcements:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1pm PT/4pm ET: U.S. and World Competitions, and NEXT
  • Thursday, Dec. 5, 1pm PT/4pm ET: Spotlight, Park City at Midnight, and New Frontier (films and exhibition)
  • Monday, Dec. 9, 1pm PT / 4pm ET: Premieres and Documentary Premieres
  • Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1pm PT/4pm ET: Short Film

For those bubbling with anticipation, #ArtistServices and iTunes created some ‘Best Of Sundance’ playlists to tide you over.

At Sundance Institute, we embrace our role as a curator of the world’s most original and compelling narrative and documentary films. It’s a role that transcends our film festivals and artist support programs, and one that will only grow in importance as platforms and audience preferences evolve.

With #ArtistServices, we’re helping advance this cause with our digital retail partners, including iTunes. For the past two years, we’ve worked closely with Apple to promote the “Sundance Room,” an evolving collection of movies from the past 30 years of the Sundance Film Festival. Beginning next Tuesday, some of these films, including all of the #ArtistServices titles, will be on sale through the end of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. What a great opportunity to check out some new hidden gems like Lord Byron and New Low, and older classics like Flirt and Troublesome Creek.

In the coming weeks, the Sundance Room will include the official 2014 Sundance Film Festival mobile app, as well as podcasts from “Meet the Artists,” a video series featuring candid, personal testimonials from directors invited to play the 2014 Festival. Plus, we’ll have some special alumni guests curate their own playlists of favorites from 30 years of Sundance. Check out the room, and let us know your own personal favorites. Happy watching.
