Autumn in the Sundance offices is always a busy and exciting time. The Festival is around the corner and we in the Feature Film Program are hip deep in reading material for the January Screenwriters Lab. It’s also the time of year that we get to launch the new cycle of the Creative Producing Fellowship, a yearlong, immersive program for emerging American producers.
This will mark our fourth year of the Fellowship, and we are thrilled that many of the producers and projects supported through the program are now in varying stages of production and distribution. This past year saw alumnus Cara Marcous premiere On the Ice at the Sundance Film Festival and win the Crystal Bear Award for Best Narrative Film at the Berlin Film Festival. Pariah, produced by Nekisa Cooper, also premiered at SFF and the film will be released by Focus Features next month. One of the most rewarding parts of the program has been seeing the Fellows not only grow as individual creative producers, but also collaborate with a network of other producers and filmmakers in the community. This spirit of generosity in sharing knowledge, resources, and moral support is something we hope will continue to thrive.
With that being said, we’re thrilled to announce our Call for Submissions for the 2012 Sundance Creative Producing Fellowship. The online application is now live, and we hope you’ll encourage U.S.-based, emerging producers to consider applying. Click here to apply.
Thanks for helping us spread the word. It’s an exciting time to be able to help discover and nurture the next generation of indie producers.
