Vanguard Leadership Award, honoring Glenn Close, in recognition of her distinguished career in entertainment and advocacy of independent film.
Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony Award winner and six-time Academy Award acting nominee Glenn Close has had a distinguished career in film, with prominent roles in The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction and Dangerous Liaisons. Close produced and co-wrote the screenplay for last year’s feature film Albert Nobbs, in which she also held the lead role. Also in 2012, Close headlined the fifth and final season of the critically acclaimed original legal thriller, Damages. Having appeared in several films at the Sundance Film Festival, Close is an Emeritus Trustee of Sundance Institute and has served as a Creative Advisor at its Labs for emerging independent filmmakers.
Vanguard Award, honoring Damien Chazelle, whose recent work, Whiplash, won both the U.S. Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award in Dramatic Competition at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
Damien Chazelle's film Whiplash won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. Chazelle directed his first feature, Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, while an undergraduate at Harvard University.
