An Artist At The Table

Sundance Film Festival Opening Night Celebration

For the past decade, Sundance Institute’s signature benefit has connected fierce independent artists and brave audiences who together embrace original, audacious, and deeply personal stories. On Thursday, January 24th we celebrated the 10th anniversary of An Artist at the Table to champion the next generation of groundbreaking voices.

An Artist at the Table kicked off the 2019 Sundance Film Festival with the world premiere at Eccles Theatre of Bart Freundlich's After the Wedding, a mesmerizing family drama starring Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams, and Billy Crudup. Following the film screening, guests enjoyed a seated dinner at Park City’s Utah Film Studios in the company of over 65 artists. Over the course of the evening, guests heard from Ava DuVernay, Boots Riley, Awkwafina, and Glenn Close about the risks they’ve taken as artists to create their work and to share their unique voices. Experience this milestone event by viewing the photo gallery in the link below:

This year, through the generosity and patronage of our community of supporters and event attendees, we raised more than ever before—$1 million to support the next generation of independent voices, which enables us to continue championing diverse artists to experiment, take risks, and realize their unique visions.
