Jay Dockendorf, the writer-director of Three Deaths, received the Tribeca Film Institute IWC Filmmaker Award at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival for his feature film Naz & Maalik (Wolfe Releasing), which later premiered at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival and was nominated for the 2016 GLAAD Award for Outstanding Feature Film—Limited Release. His documentary short films have appeared online in the New Yorker and the New York Times: Op-Docs.
