Enter into a crypt with a friend and explore the digital environs with your friend’s avatar. This multi-user immersive platform combines motion capture with VR headsets, allowing the users to freely move within the physical space while virtually visiting various 3-D interactive environments. Users can see each other’s avatars, and they can interact with each other and 3-D objects using the sense of touch.

Artist Bios

Sylvain Chagué

Sylvain Chagué graduated from the engineering school Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etiennes in France, where he specialized in image processing, computer graphics, 3-D animation, and motion capture technologies. His areas of expertise include the use of motion capture data for 3-D animation and video games, VR applications, interactive human-computer interfaces, as well as 3-D body scanning technologies. Chagué is the co-founder and current technology director of Artanim.

Caecilia Charbonnier

Caecilia Charbonnier obtained a master of advanced studies in computer graphics at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne in France and a PhD in computer science at MIRALab, Univeristy of Geneva. She is the co-founder, current president, and research director of Artanim. Her work focuses on the interdisciplinary use of motion capture for applications ranging from 3-D animation, virtual reality, and live performances to movement science, orthopedics, and sports medicine.
