Michelle Latimer (Métis/Algonquin) is the showrunner, director, and writer of the VICELAND series Rise (2017 Sundance Film Festival). A filmmaker, showrunner/producer, actor, and activist, her selected films include Choke (Toronto International Film Festival's Canada's Top Ten), The Underground, Nimmikaage (Oberhausen, National Gallery of Canada), and Alias (nominated for a Canadian Screen Award). Michelle is currently working on the dramatic feature The Freedom Project, adapting the novel Inconvenient Indian for screen, and showrunning Red Nation Rising.
