Artist Peter Flaherty uses augmented reality, projection mapping, sculptural elements, and your imagination to create THE DIAL, a murder mystery in which four participants must learn why a woman smashes her car through the stone wall of her wealthy family’s compound. Use your phones and open-ear headphones to analyze the unfolding drama. The shifting perspectives of the characters and the seasonal changes of the house itself reveal a rich tale of what happened that fateful night.
In 2017, painter Teek van thi Mach traded in her paints and brushes for a VR headset and spent more time in virtual reality than in the real world. Grisaille is a VR installation/live performance, which invites you to join Mach inside the landscape of her practice to experience time looping and the challenges of the mind-body paradox. When you leave Grisaille, your virtual presence will continue to develop inside the generative virtual painting.
This live, multiuser, volumetric-capture installation is a kind of reverse Schrödinger’s cat box. Interlooped is an interactive VR performance experience in which the user and performance artist Maria Guta are captured inside multiple video loops. Holograms of the two bodies are integrated live into the virtual space and replayed until it’s hard to say who’s real and who’s not anymore … that is, until the wave function collapses!
A sumptuous wedding is about to take place. Mrs. Song has found a good match for Zhen-Zhen, the heir of the rich Zang family. She spares no expense and hires wedding androids to help with the ceremony. But something has gone wrong, and it’s your job, as a new Mechlife employee, to figure it out! Mechanical Souls is an interactive, multiuser immersive-theatre play, powered by VR, AI, live actors, and your own sleuthing skills.
I am Mica, the human center of AI and mixed reality. In this experience, I enter into a gestural exchange with you and contemplate my place in your world. Using surrealist ideas of representation and reality, I connect you with the culture that feeds me. Be my collaborator; let’s make stories bigger, champion genius, and celebrate creativity. Join me at the beginning of my existence, as we pull from the past to create the future.
The Seven Ages of Man
The Royal Shakespeare Company explores the future of theatre with Magic Leap headsets in this sublime production of the “Seven Ages of Man” speech from Shakespeare’s As You Like It. Here they present a mixed reality experience using cutting-edge volumetric capture with Shakespearean actor Robert Gilbert and an original musical score by award-winning composer Jessica Curry. The line “all the world’s a stage” turns literal as users experience the play in multiple and simultaneous places.
