Life is disrupted for eight-year-old Aida when her father returns with a young Senegalese woman, Rama, whom he introduces as his second wife. Sensitive to her mother's distress, Aida decides to get rid of the new visitor.
As prize winner of the screenplay competition Hlm sur cour(t), Maïmouna Doucouré created her first self-produced short film, Hide-and-seek, in 2013. Maman(s) (Mother[s]) is her first film made in partnership with a production company. It is inspired by her personal experience, the subject of which is the upheaval of a child confronted with polygamy.
