Loyalty: Stories—Being Muslim in the Military

About

Monday, January 28, noon–1:30 p.m.
Kimball Art Center, 1401 Kearns Blvd.

Muslim service members defend a country that does not always defend them. In the new docuseries Loyalty: Stories, diverse portraits of Muslim military personnel challenge stereotypes of both Islam and the armed forces. This panel discussion follows a film preview with guests including Captain Rafael Lantigua (Muslim chaplain, United States Air Force), Aisha El-Amin (United States Army veteran; currently associate provost, University of Illinois, Chicago), and film director David Washburn. Moderated by Sadia Sindhu (chair of the Muslim Public Affairs Council's policy committee) with opening remarks by Sue Obeidi (director of MPAC's Hollywood Bureau).

Presented by the Muslim Public Affairs Council’s Hollywood Bureau and Kartemquin Films
