Artist Bio

John Haptas

John Haptas is a documentary film editor. He has made, with Kristine Samuelson, documentary essays on a wide range of subjects, including tourism in Paris, the Vietnam War, and homelessness. Their feature documentary, Tokyo Waka, screened theatrically in Toronto and Seattle and in New York at Film Forum.


Kristine Samuelson

Kristine Samuelson taught in the Documentary Film and Video MFA program at Stanford University for thirty years. Her work as a documentary essayist has been supported by fellowships from the Bogliasco Foundation, the Cité internationale des arts, and the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission. She has also served on the Board of ITVS and has taught documentary workshops in Ghana, South Africa, Zambia, Nepal, Vietnam, and Australia.
