Lonnie Holley is an Alabama-born visual artist, musician, and filmmaker. His visual art is in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and many other museums. He has released three critically acclaimed studio albums, including MITH in 2018. The film I Snuck Off the Slave Ship is his directorial debut. Like the song that inspired it, the film is a metaphor for African American transcendence.
Cyrus Moussavi is a filmmaker and record producer. He founded Raw Music International, a film collective documenting underground music scenes around the world. He has produced films about music in Burma, Kenya, Western Sahara, Iraq, Ukraine, and Mongolia. He was born in Iowa to Iranian parents and currently lives in Chicago.
