SECTION Park City at Midnight

RUN TIME 88 min

What would a normal pair of 10-year-old boys do when they stumble upon a seemingly abandoned police car in a country field? Take it for a joyride, of course. Cop Car embarks on a harrowing crash course full of mayhem as the duo attempt to navigate the back roads behind the wheel of a machine that they have no clue how to operate. Blissfully unaware of the impending doom they face at every turn, they see things go from bad to worse when the corrupt small-town sheriff aims to get his car back at all costs. The kids find themselves in the center of a deadly game of cat and mouse that they don't understand, and the only way out is to put pedal to metal and drive as fast as their cop car will take them.

With no regard for child safety, director Jon Watts's white-knuckle adventure will leave your heart firmly planted in your throat, while Kevin Bacon nails the part of the dickhead authority figure, birthing a Buford T. Justice for a new generation. —A.M.
