Black, Queer, and Unapologetic: The Shifting Lens of Storytelling in Hollywood
Tuesday, January 28, 4:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m. Filmmaker Lodge, 550 Main St. (2nd floor)
For too long, LGBTQ+ media representation has been focused solely on white protagonists. Thanks to a burst of brilliant Black queer talent, the tide is slowly changing. With moments like Moonlight’s Academy Award win for Best Picture in 2017, Black queer stories became front and center in Hollywood. Multihyphenate stars including Lena Waithe, Janet Mock, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Justin Simien, and Jeremy O. Harris have been creating nuanced narratives ever since. Join moderator Danielle Moodie-Mills from DNR Studios’ WokeAF Daily along with Color Of Change’s Rashad Robinson (and a panel of industry influencers) for an in-depth conversation about Black Hollywood.
Presented by GLAAD
This panel will have an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter on-site.
