“We started this film by me sitting in the kitchen and going online and stumbling on a picture of a guy posing next to [a dead] elephant,” director Shaul Schwarz explained last January at the premiere of his documentary Trophy. “I wanted to kill him – I thought he was the most disgusting individual.”
With discerning pragmatism, Schwarz investigates the big game hunting industry in search of insights and arrives at a nuanced world where the lines between economic value and wildlife conservation are less defined than expected.
