Short Order: Aliens and Aquadettes
The strangest political arguments are going on and on and on. Imagine an alien coming to Earth, and you are the person (farmer in Iowa) they choose to learn from, about what the human race is and why we do things the way we do. You might have a chance to save their planet.
Alien: “Nice TV. What is health care?”
You: “It’s a system where, if one of us gets sick, it will provide what we need to get better and stay alive."
Alien: “So it’s for everyone. No one has to worry about getting sick. Cool.”
You: “No. Some of us don’t think it should be free, so people with more money can have more health care, and people with no money should not get it.”
Alien: “What does ‘free’ mean?”
Better yet, show them the short Aquadettes (SFF 2012), about a senior citizen swim team and in turn peoples’ health.
