Artist Programs

Through year-round support, including a series of Labs and Fellowships for screenwriters, directors, documentarians, producers, composers, and theatre artists, the Institute's artist programs have supported more than 5,000 artists and their films.

Feature Film

The Feature Film Program is Sundance's longest-running program and has supported more than 500 independent filmmakers whose distinctive, singular works have engaged audiences worldwide.

Documentary

Along with providing year-round creative and professional support through Labs and strategic partnerships, the Documentary Film Program has supported over 500 contemporary issue documentarians globally through the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund.

Theatre

Having already supported the development of more than 200 plays, the Theatre Program advances the work of risk-taking theatre artists by providing rare developmental opportunities that support artists throughout their careers.

Native Film

The Native American and Indigenous Program hosts screenings, panels, events, and workshops throughout the year designed to foster community and the exchange of ideas among Native American and Indigenous filmmakers.

Film Music

The Film Music Program's Composers Lab allows accomplished musicians to explore composing for film while introducing filmmakers to the importance of music in film.

Producers

The Creative Producing Initiative encompasses a year-round series of Labs, Fellowships, and events focusing on nurturing the next generation of independent producers.

Short Film

Our work in the arena of Short Film recognizes the importance of this groundbreaking form in the world of cinema, and the shorts programs shown at the Festival have long been established as a place to discover talented directors.

Artist Alumni

Since 1981, we have invested in a great diversity of voices and the Alumni Initiative allows filmmakers and artists to continue to engage, be involved, and support what's next.

FILM FORWARD

FILM FORWARD is a cultural exchange program designed to enhance cross-cultural understanding, collaboration, and dialogue around the globe by engaging audiences through the exhibition of film and conversation with filmmakers.
