  • Where: Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Palangkarya
    When: September 7-13, 2014

In partnership with the US Embassy, Jakarta, Film Forward heads to Indonesia for the first time for a week of film screenings, filmmaker discussions, and workshops. Film Forward will travel to Jakarta, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Yogyakarta, and Denpasar with filmmakers Srdan Golubovic (director, Circles) and Doug Blush (editor, 20 Feet From Stardom).

Circles explores the moral dilemmas and story strands that emerge from one fateful moment during the Balkan war. Twenty years later, all of those affected from this moment are forced to confront the past through their own crises. Twenty Feet From Stardom shines a spotlight on the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century. These gifted artists span a range of styles, genres, and eras of popular music, but each has a uniquely fascinating story to share of life in the shadows of superstardom.

Other films that will be screening with this program but without filmmaker representatives are: Dancing In Jaffa, If You Build It, The Rocket, The World Before Her
