    FILM FORWARD will collaborate with the US Embassy in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Deblokada Association of Artists for a first year program in Bosnia & Herzegovina.  Filmmakers Musa Syeed (Director, Valley of Saints) and Stacy Peralta (Director, Bones Brigade: An Autobiography) will travel with the program to Sarajevo, Siroki Brijeg, and Mostar for a week of screenings, discussions, workshops and filmmaker roundtables.

    Bones Brigade: An Autobiography shares the story of the famous “Bones Brigade” skateboarding team as they transition from being outsiders to discovering what it truly means to “win”.  Valley of Saints is a moving drama that explores the relationship between two best friends and the female researcher, studying environmental degradation on Kashmir’s Dal Lake, who threatens to distract them from their dreams of escape.

    Other films that will be screening with this program but without filmmaker representatives are: Beasts of the Southern Wild, Chasing Ice, The Light In Her Eyes, The Loving Story, Town of Runners, and Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna).

    US Embassy in Bosnia & Herzegovina
    The American Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina protects and promotes American interests and develops relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina through contacts with B&H government, business, labor, agriculture, media and education leaders.

    Deblokada
    The Association of Artists “Deblokada” was founded by filmmaker Jasmila Zbanic and producer Damir Ibrahimovic, with the aim to gather artists of various profiles from around the world and to open space for joint expression and release of creative potentials. With ten documentaries and short feature films shown at the most prestigious international festivals, two feature films selected in Competition Programme of A-list festivals (including the Berlinale’s winner full-length feature film Grbavica) and three films in their preproduction phases, Deblokada is one of the most successful production companies of Southeast Europe. Deblokada was founded in 1997 as an association of artists.

    Venues

    Cinema City
    Cinema City opened in Sarajevo on August, 6th 2009. Positioned in the center of town near the BBI Center, this multiplex  has five cinema halls with a total capacity of 700 seats. 

    The Center for Healthy Aging
    The project focuses on improving the health and quality of life of the elderly in three cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is based on work to improve services for the elderly as well as for the development of policies and programs for this population. Lessons learned from the project will among other things be used in drafting the strategy of support for the elderly people who live in both entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

    Bela Tarr’s Academy of Film/Sarajevo Academy of Performing Arts
    Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo is a faculty within the University of Sarajevo in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, dedicated to the performing arts. The Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo was officially opened in 1981 with the inaugural Department of Acting. This was followed by the opening of the Department of Directing in 1989 and the Department of Dramaturgy in 1994.

    Kriterion Cinema
    Kriterion is a non-profit foundation for the development of culture and civil society. It was founded in Sarajevo , Bosnia and Herzegovina , in 2006, initiated by the Foundation Young Urban Achievers. Kriterion seeks the development of civil society through capacity building for young people , taking their needs and talents to specific activities in the field of cultural industries. 

    OKC Abrasevic (Alternative Culture Youth Center)
    OKC Abrašević is an open network of non-governmental organizations, informal groups and individuals based in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It offers a space and support to youth in realizing ideas and it encourages projects that promotes civic society, arts and social cohesion. After being closed for nearly ten years, it came back to life in 2003 thanks to a network of non-government, youth associations which were initially created around the MIF (Mostar Intercultural Festival).

    Cinestar
    CineStar in Mostar is 1,378 square meters with five screens with a total capacity of 693 seats. Halls are equipped with latest digital technology and provide viewers the real pleasure of watching a movie on a "wall to wall "screens with Dolby Digital EX and DTS sound system. CineStar Mostar year will run about 170 titles. 

    Mediterranean Film Festival
    MFF is the oldest festival of documentary film in the region considering that only documentary films compete here and the largest part of the program is based on documentaries. This is one of the rare festivals that has money prizes for the winners of the festival and in that way helps them to create new film projects. The School of Film Culture with relevant lecturers is being organized within the very MFF. A short documentary film is created every year at the MFF workshop, which we screen at the closure of the festival.

    Ekran Multiplex Zenica
    Ekran Multiplex in Zenica opened on November 11th, 2009 and is located in the city center. Capacity is 386 seats, arranged in three halls. The facility has a multitude of supporting facilities with entertainment for the whole family and all ages.

    NDC Office, Mostar
    NDC Mostar sees a future society in Mostar, Herzegovina and B&H as whole, as a society that offers equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of national, religious, political, gender, social background or affiliation, to quality and non-discriminating educational system based on respect for human rights; political environment that is democratic and open for all and to all citizens, groups and organisations; state institutions that are professional and oriented to offer best service to its beneficiaries and are capable to peacefully manage all conflicts in society by its own democratic mechanisms.
