Film Forward Opens in Puerto Rico
The Puerto Rico Film Society and Sundance Institute are presenting free film screenings, panels, and Q&As this week as part of Film Forwared Puerto Rico. Several directors and executives flew into the island for this memorable occasion including Trevor Groth, Programming Director of the Sundance Film Festival; Brittany Ballard, Manager of Film Forward; Meredith Lavitt, Associate Director of Film Forward; and Lixin Fan, director of the featured film Last Train Home. The first night of events took place at the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico in San Juan and included a cocktail reception and a screeing of Last Train Home. A favorite highlight in the night's program was a special panel between Lixin Fan, Dr. Camen Oquendo, and the audience to exchange ideas and views on the film. Film Forward will continue at the Puerto Rico Museum of Art in San Juan and will then move on to the Municipality of Ponce to be presented at the Ponce Museum of Art on June 24-25. A total of 9 films will be presented in Puerto Rico. Kudos for the Puerto Rico Film Society and Film Forward! Let cinema continue to fulfill its mission to unite all cultures and values in a single language projected in a screen and understood by all.
