Welcome to the Sundance Industry Office (SIO)! Each year, more than 1500 members of the independent film industry come from all over the world to attend the Sundance Film Festival. Since its debut at the 2005 Festival, the SIO has provided accredited members with the necessary tools and resources to navigate one of the world’s most dynamic festival markets and further a range of creative goals. Prior to the Festival, SIO members have the exclusive opportunity to register to purchase SIO Festival Passes and Ticket Packages. During the Festival, SIO members continue to enjoy members-only services through the Sundance Industry Office at Festival Headquarters.

SIO members have the exclusive opportunity to purchase members-only SIO Festival Passes and Ticket Packages. Due to an extremely limited inventory, members must first register their requests for passes and packages during one of the SIO Registration periods. After registration, each request is evaluated by the SIO and either approved or denied. Registration is considered a commitment to purchase the item, so if the request is approved, the sale is automatically processed. Members will receive a purchase confirmation email once the sale goes through. If the request is denied, members are notified by email and offered an alternative option.

All SIO Passes and Packages are available to accredited SIO members ONLY.

  • The SIO Express Pass FIRST HALF is a non-transferrable photo credential that provides the holder admission to all Public screenings, Press & Industry screenings, and Panel Discussions at all theatres within pass dates, January 18-23, 2018. If you want to choose your screenings once you get to the Film Festival, the SIO Express Pass FIRST HALF is your best option. No ticket selection is required. Simply show up to the theatre at least 30 minutes prior to the published screening start time to gain priority entrance to the theatre. All Pass Holders must be seated 15 minutes prior to the published screening start time to guarantee their seats.

  • The SIO Industry Pass is a non-transferrable photo credential that allows the holder entrance to any Press & Industry (P&I) Screening on a space-available basis. No ticket is necessary for these screenings, but seating is limited, so please be advised to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to screening times.

    + SELECT TICKETS: All SIO Industry Pass holders can also obtain (from the SIO) a comp ticket to SELECT screenings of PREMIERE category films that have a Combined Public/P&I at the Eccles.

    + DAILY TICKET REQUESTS: Industry Pass holders may request to purchase up to 4 tickets per day (based on availability) to public screenings through the SIO. Tickets are extremely limited and requests may only be submitted on-site at the Festival. Additional information will be sent out before the arrival in Park City.

    + eWAITLIST: For all other Public Screenings, SIO Industry Pass holders may also apply for eWAITLIST tickets at all regular public screenings. Simply follow the general eWaitList procedures and show your credential in exchange for a complimentary ticket when available.

    + ACCESS TO: The SIO Industry Pass allows the holder access to non-theatre venues including the SIO lounge, Filmmaker Lodge, and also includes daytime admission to the Sundance Music Café.

    - NOT INCLUDED: SIO Industry Passes DO NOT include access to the Day One Screenings, Day One Reception, Closing Night Screening, or Awards Night Party. The Sundance Industry Office does not have access to these tickets and cannot help you obtain them.

*PLEASE NOTE that if the SIO processes a pass and/or package in your name and you change companies prior to the Festival, the pass belongs to the company or individual that paid for the pass. For example, if you use a company card that is in your name, the company itself owns the pass and it is up to them to decide (and notify us) whether you can still use the pass. However, if you paid for the pass with your own card and have not received reimbursement from your company at the time you leave, then the pass still belongs to you.

Registration Overview

The Sundance Industry Office has several registration periods. These are times when designated members are able to register and request SIO Festival Passes and Ticket Packages. All registration requests must be approved by the SIO before they are processed. We try our best to accommodate everyone's request, but due to limited availability, we cannot guarantee your request will be fulfilled. Registration is not first-come, first-served.

SIO REGULAR REGISTRATION: If you received a 2017 Sundance Film Festival SIO Pass and/or Package, you will have already received an email with instructions on how to register your request for the 2018 Festival. SIO Regular Registration will run from 11:00am PST/12:00PM MST on September 12 to 3:00 PM PST/4:00 PM MST on October 13. When you register online, you are submitting a request, and you are committing to purchase a pass/package if your request is approved. If approved, your credit card will automatically be charged by October 31 (without prior notification from the SIO) and a purchase receipt will be sent to you. You will not be charged until your request is approved. If your request is not approved, you will be notified by email in mid-October. We will only notify you if we cannot approve your request.

SIO LATE REGISTRATION: SIO Late Registration will open on October 30 and will remain open until we are sold out. Any SIO Pass/Package inventory remaining after SIO Regular Registration will be available for request. We typically sell out of our most in-demand items before SIO Late Registration opens, so expect to see a limited selection. All orders approved during Late Registration will be subject to late fees.

OTHER REGISTRATIONS: Additional registration periods will be held for specific Festival Passes (ex. Sales Agent passes). We will only contact you directly if you are deemed eligible.

  • Q: Alrighty, I attended the 2017 Festival as an SIO member, how do I register? Is it different for a veteran member like me?
    A: Nope, everyone has to follow the same steps! Simply go to the link we sent you and click on the button in the middle of the page titled “Click here to register now” to get started.

    Q: I see on your website that you offer via Public Sales a "Premium Ticket Package" for $1200.00 and it says it gives a preferred ticket selection time. Should I buy that instead of going through SIO Pass/Package Sales?
    A: No, the Premium Ticket Packages are for the general public. Since you are part of the independent film industry, going through the SIO rather than Public Sales is much better, since you are not competing with 1000s of people to buy a pass/package and SIO members receive a priority ticket selection time.

    Q: I registered and purchased a pass, but what if something comes up and I can’t go? Have I just bought myself a nice souvenir?
    A: If you purchase a pass/package, but find out at a later date that you cannot attend, you have one of two options: 1) you can transfer the pass/package to someone else at your company and pay a $50 name change fee OR 2) you can cancel the pass/package and pay a 20% cancellation fee. You have until December 1 to exercise either of these options.

    Q: Oops, in my excitement to register, I forgot to select FedEx! What to do?!?!?
    A: FedEx can ONLY be selected at the time of initial registration. Your order will be held for pickup at our festival office!

    Q: I forgot to select FedEx when I registered, and you already told me it was too late to select it when I asked you the first time. But I can keep asking till you say yes, right? My boss is going to kill me if they have to go to the SIO at fest to pick up their pass.
    A: Unfortunately, no. If you did not select FedEx at the time of registration, our system will not allow us to add it on to your order after the fact. Tell your boss that in-person pass pick up during the festival goes relatively quickly, and the SIO staff will be there with warm, welcoming smiles!

    Q: Double oops...I requested the wrong pass/ticket package. Help!
    A: If you requested the wrong pass/package, please email sio@sundance.org

    IMMEDIATELY to notify us of the mistake. DO NOT go back to the SIO Registration link to make the correction yourself. I highly recommend that you read through all the pass and package descriptions during the registration process, as it contains important information on pass/package dates of validity and what is included with each pass/package. Each year, we get a handful of people who realize December (or even as late as January) that they bought a Second Half pass/package but booked their hotel for First Half, so don’t let that happen to you!

    Q: I just registered myself, but now I have to change my work address/pass choice/email/etc. I can go back into the registration link and do that myself, right?
    A: NO, please DO NOT do that. Why? Because our Registration system is tricky and when a person who has already registered their pass/package requests goes back into the system to change any information, it screws up the existing account. So please, we beg you…if you have any changes to your request, email sio@sundance.org

    Q: I have been blessed with the unenviable task of registering 27 people at my company. But after I registered the first one, the system told me I have exceeded my maximum allowable passes/packages. Huh??? Help!
    A: We don’t envy you. You will get that message most likely because you are trying to use one email address to register multiple people. Unfortunately, our Registration software only allows for one email to be used per registration. We also HIGHLY recommend that the primary email (designated as “Unique Email” on the form) match the eventual pass/package holder. If you are assisting someone and would like to also add your email, put that in “Alternate Email.”

    Q: How do I register new people at my company who have never gone through the SIO Registration process?
    A: You can use the same link to register them, but as stated above, DO NOT use the same primary email address for multiple registrations!

    Q: When I select the pass or package I want to request, the price shows up as $0.00 in my cart. Did I get a free Pass/Package because you really really like me?
    A: Yes, we like you, but sadly, no, you’re not getting a free Pass/Package. Because your card will not be charged until the week of October 23 when your request is approved/processed, your cart will reflect that no money is charged to your card at the time of your registration, with the exception of the $10 registration fee. Once your request is approved and your card is actually charged, you will receive an email from Festival Registration with an updated receipt.

    Q: I chose FedEx delivery…to which address will my pass/package be delivered?
    A: Whatever address you input in “Work Address” will be the address used for delivery AND will be the address that will show up in the SIO Delegates Guide. Also, please note that if you choose FedEx delivery and do not reply to any photo request email from us by the deadline, Registration WILL NOT FedEx your pass to you and you will not be refunded the FedEx fee (and you will have to come into the SIO in person and have a photo taken of you for your pass).

    Q: I just got a fab new headshot and I want to use that instead of that photo of me from 1999. How do I change my photo for my pass?

    A: If we HAVE your photo on file from last year, you DO NOT need to submit a photo for this coming year—we will simply use the photo we have in our system. If we DO NOT HAVE a photo on file for you from last year, then you will receive an email from us with the link to the online photo uploader after your Pass/Package purchase is processed. But if you got a fancy new ‘do and want to show it off (who wouldn’t?), please email sio@sundance.org to request the link to the online photo uploader.

  • SIO Festival Pass/Ticket Package requests are not processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the limited number of SIO Passes and Ticket Packages, filling out the online registration form DOES NOT guarantee purchase. If the SIO is unable to accommodate your request, you will be notified by mid-October.

    By completing your SIO online registration, you are committing to buying a pass/package if your order is approved by the SIO. You SHOULD NOT register your request if you are unsure of your attendance, as SIO Registration IS NOT to meant hold a pass/package for you. If your request is approved, the SIO will sell you the requested pass/package and the credit card you entered on your registration form will be automatically charged. The SIO will ONLY notify you via email if your request cannot be approved.

    All times listed on the SIO Registration site are MOUNTAIN (MST) time zones, not Pacific (PST) time zones (PST is one hour earlier than MST). SIO Regular Registration ends on Friday, October 13 at 4:00 p.m. MST (3:00 p.m. PST). If you do not submit your registration request by this deadline, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to purchase the SIO Pass/Package that you want. Any orders processed after this date will be subject to a $100 late fee.

    All standard fees apply to SIO purchases (a $10 registration fee and $50 per pass/package handling fee) and are non-refundable.

    PAYMENT: ONLY credit cards are accepted for payment of any SIO Festival Pass or Ticket Package (American Express, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). The credit card used for SIO Registration will be the same one used for any approved purchases.

    15 MINUTE RULE: To guarantee admittance in public theatres, Ticket Holders and eligible Pass Holders must be in their seats 15 minutes prior to the film's scheduled start time.

    RESELLERS: Sundance reserves the right to prohibit any sales during this Festival and in future years to any pass/package/ticket buyer/member of the SIO who is identified or has been identified as a reseller. This pertains to all re-sales above, below, or at face value. Tickets and credentials can be remotely invalidated.

    TICKET SELECTION: If you purchase an applicable SIO Ticket Package, all times for ticket selections are randomly assigned by computer. You may not contact the SIO or Festival Pass and Package Sales/Registration/Customer Service to request an earlier/better time.

    APPROVE SENDERS: Add the following emails to your address book or approved senders list to ensure that all emails will reach you and not be filtered out by spam blockers: sio@sundance.org, FestivalTickets@sundance.org, passpackageoffice@sundance.org, Customerservice@sundance.org, Shipping@sundance.org. The Sundance Film Festival and SIO Office are not responsible for emails not received due to spam blockers.

  • NAME CHANGES: SIO Festival Passes and/or Ticket Packages may be transferred to another employee of the SAME company. There will be a $50.00 fee per item applied to name transfer requests, no exceptions. If you need to make a name change, please email sio@sundance.org with your request. DO NOT contact Pass and Package Sales or Customer Service directly. All transfer requests MUST be received no later than December 1.

    CANCELLATIONS: SIO Festival Passes and/or Ticket Packages may be cancelled. There will be a 20% cancellation fee applied to all cancellation requests, no exceptions. If you need to request a cancellation, please email sio@sundance.org. DO NOT contact Pass and Package Sales or Customer Service directly. All cancellation requests MUST be received no later than December 1.

  • SIO will email you in October to submit a photo for your pass if one is not on file for you. If you do not submit your photo by the requested deadline and you had purchased FedEx delivery, FedEx delivery will automatically be cancelled without a refund and you will be required to have your photo taken on-site during the Festival.

  • FedEx delivery can ONLY be requested at time of registration. If you did NOT request pre-Fest delivery, you must pick up your Festival Passes and Ticket Packages at the Sundance Industry Office at the Festival Headquarters at the Marriott in the ballroom beginning January 18. Please allow ample time to pick up your Festival Pass or Ticket Package, as you will not be able to pick it up at any of the theatres. *Please note that we do not ship passes and/or packages to international addresses.

  • If you buy a Ticket Package, you have to select your 20 tickets through a process called Ticket Package Fulfillment. Since films and the screening schedule are not announced until December, the actual tickets in ticket packages cannot be selected right away. They have to be selected long after the packages are originally sold.

    Fulfillment is run on a timeslot system. In late December, package holders are notified of their selection time by email. Then, from the start of your timeslot until the end of the fulfillment period, you may go online and select your tickets. You can only login once and cannot login to change your tickets. You may also call in and pay to select your tickets over the phone with the help of a ticket agent.

    If you do not select all the tickets in your package or do not select tickets at all, you will be issued vouchers in lieu of the unselected tickets. To be used, vouchers must be exchanged for tickets. They may ONLY be exchanged in person at the Main Box Office or in eWaitlist lines.

  • If you did not choose FedEx delivery, your order will be available for pick up at the Sundance Industry Office beginning on January 18. It cannot be picked up at any of the public box offices. During the first few days of the Festival, please anticipate a long line as the majority of our 1500 members will be picking up on these dates. Be sure to allow ample time to pick up your order, as you will not be able to pick it up at any of the theatres.

    SIO materials must be picked up by the person whose name is on the order. We will require a valid photo ID for pickup. If you won’t be able to make it during regular SIO hours to pick up your pass, you must designate a proxy to pick it up on your behalf. Please email sio@sundance.org to add your name and your proxy’s name to the Proxy Pickup List. Please make sure when you email to cc the proxy; they will need a copy of the email to pick-up the pass.

    Our 10-day Festival hosts more than 40,000 people a year and spreads out across four cities: Park City, Salt Lake City, and the Sundance Mountain Resort. Each city is separated by a short drive (30 to 75 minutes), so make sure to select your screening tickets in the city where you’ll be located for most of the Festival.     If you are going to be in Park City, there’s one key to navigating the Festival: use the shuttle! It's free and hits every Festival Theatre and Venue. Plus it’s a great way to meet fellow Festivalgoers.

    Should I rent a car?
    You can rent a car, but we do not recommend it. Parking is limited and does not exist at most theatres and venues. The FREE and convenient Festival shuttle is the best way to get around town.

    How do I get around without a car?
