I'm planning to attend the Festival with a group. What's the best way to get tickets?
Ticket Packages are a great option for small groups, which you can supplement with Advance Individual Tickets and/or additional Festival Credentials. Because Ticket Package Holders have priority ticket selection and can select up to four ticket per one screening, a group can arrange to see movies together. Helpful hint: if you’re planning to split a package or Advance Individual Tickets with a group, register every member of your group and use the earliest purchase timeslot(s) that you receive to have the best chance of getting your first choice(s). Just keep in mind that the person whose timeslot you buy during will have to be the person who picks up the order. Also note, because our inventory is limited, Sundance has difficulty accommodating groups of more than four people. If you're coming with five + be prepared with plenty of backup options and to split up your group if your first choices don’t work out.
Are there limits to what I can buy?
Yes. Festival Pass and Ticket Package purchases are limited to one Festival Pass/Ticket Package per item type, with a limit of four Festival Passes and/or Ticket Packages per transaction. Individual Ticket sales are limited to 20 ticket per order with a maximum of four tickets per screening.
When I arrive at the Festival, I discover that tickets to the film I want to see are no longer available. What can I do?
This is THE question. And you may feel like you've tried EVERYTHING. But just remember that the best-kept secret of navigating the Festival is that where there's a will, there's a way. Here are a few of your options:
Day-of-Show Sales
Didn't get the tickets you wanted to a sold-out screening? Visit our Main Box Offices in Salt Lake City or Park City to get tickets to previously unavailable screenings. Each morning of the festival at 8:00 a.m., the Main Box Offices in Park City and Salt Lake City release a limited number of tickets to that day's screenings. Tickets for each theatre's first screening of the day are released at 8:00 a.m. the day before. Day-of-Show Tickets must be purchased in-person; they are not available by phone or online.
The Waitlist
Ready to get to know your fellow filmgoers? No Sundance experience would be complete without seeing at least one film via the waitlist. Each year, thousands of filmgoers see popular Festival films without Advance Tickets. There's no need to go to the Main Box Office-just go directly to the theatre of the screening you wish to attend. Arrive two hours before the scheduled screening time to pick up your waitlist number (one per person). For each theatre's first screening of the day, waitlist numbers will be distributed one hour before the scheduled screening time. Once you have your number, you can go grab coffee or a sandwich, but you must return no later than 30 minutes before the screening time. You'll then line up according to number, and tickets will be sold in sequential order and based on availability. The tickets are $15. Only cash is accepted, so be sure to stop by the ATM before coming to the theatres.
Off Screen Options
Don't despair if you just can't find that ticket. There are film panels, concerts, cutting-edge media installations, and more in addition to our regular program of films. Events run all day, every day at Festival venues like the Filmmaker Lodge, the Music Café, the New Frontier, and Sundance House. And there's always something happening at Festival Headquarters at the Park City Marriott.
What's the best way to find out about schedule changes, including any added screenings?
Check theatres, Main Box Offices, Information Booths, and sundance.org/festival for the latest info on any changes to the schedule, including "TBAs"-a placeholder in the film schedule that allows Festival programmers to add screenings of popular films. You can also call our Ticketing Hotline at (435) 776-7878 for up-to-date Festival information.
What methods of payment are accepted at the main box offices?
We accept American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or cash. We DO NOT accept checks, money orders, or foreign currency.
Do you offer discounted tickets for kids, students, military, or senior citizens?
We do not offer discounts on tickets, passes, or package for children, students, military, or senior citizens online or at any of the Main Box Offices or Theatre Box Offices, except for at the Ogden Main Box Office. The Ogden Main Box Office offers a $5 discount per ticket for students and military with ID on Advance Tickets for screenings at the Ogden Peery's Egyptian Theatre only.
What if I cannot attend a screening?
All ticket sales and fees are final and non-refundable. However, tickets may be exchanged at the Main Box Offices up to two hours in advance of the printed screening time based on availability - a $2.00 per ticket fee applies. No ticket pickup or exchanges will be made at the individual theatre box offices. Be sure to select your tickets according to your arrival plan and the Main Box Offices' hours of operation. Refunds are not given for non-collected tickets ordered online.
