Tip of the Week: Festival from Home

Whether you're Park City bound this January or stranded in a dark corner of the globe, we've got your back (though we can't guarantee a Wi-Fi connection). Sundance Institute brings the Festival to you online each January with engaging content, from blogs to live streams, at www.sundance.org/festival. Last year we shared highlights like Michael Moore and Harry Belafonte chatting it up on our Film Movement panel and Stacy Peralta and Drake Doremus guest tweeting from @sundancefest. Here's a cheat sheet of the best ways to stay in touch with all of the Festival happenings this January:

  • Blogs and Articles: Once the Program Announcement drops in December, we’ll turn our focus to the 2012 films and filmmakers. Click here for all of our written content, from director and actor Q&As to first-person blogs by filmmakers and Sundance staff.
  • Live@Sundance: The only place on the Web where you’ll find live streams of Festival panels, press conferences, awards ceremonies, and more. Live@Sundance gives you access to some of the most engaging and exclusive conversations with filmmakers and industry professionals. Live streaming also allows non-credential holders to gain access to otherwise exclusive Off-Screen events. Live@Sundance archives all of its streams, so don’t worry if you miss an event, it’ll be online until 2013!

  • Facebook and Twitter: ‘Like’ the Sundance Film Festival Facebook page and follow all of @sundancefest, @sundancefestnow, and @sundancelabs on Twitter to receive up-to-date Festival news and guest tweets from 2012 directors.
  • Meet the Artists ‘12: Get to know the 2012 Sundance Film Festival directors and their Competition films before they even hit Park City theaters. Check out last year’s MTA of Best Director award winner Sean Durkin and his film Martha Marcy May Marlene.

You can also connect with fellow iflm lovers and check into our official venues and theatres with Geo-Social apps like Facebook Places, Gowalla, and Foursquare. Share your Sundance experience with the whole world and see which friends are there with you.

If you can’t make it to Park City this January, join us at www.sundance.org/festival and let us bring the Festival to you!
